Born at North Fremantle, WA, RC. Enlisted 11 August 1916 age 18, milk carter. Nok father, John Francis Murphy of Kenney St, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked at Fremantle 9 November 1916 per A8 Argyllshire. Served in France 1917-1918 and on 18 September 1918, suffered wounds to the back, chest and arm. RTA April 1919 per A74 Marathon. Service medals: BWM and VM. In 1924 his address was Monument St, Cottesloe Beach.
