Born at Tipperary, Ireland. RC. Enlisted 18 August 1915 age 30, barman. John Murphy’s address was 53 Cantonment St, Fremantle. Nok brothers, James Murphy at Kalgoorlie and P. Murphy at the National Hotel later address was the Cleopatra Hotel Fremantle. Embarked at Fremantle 2 November 1915 per A38 Ulysses. Served in France where he was missing in action 25 July 1916. His body was not found and he was declared to be killed in action. Memorial details: Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. Personal effects of the deceased sent to his Nok: Prayer book, brush. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. Listed on the Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls.
