Nock, Francis Arthur

2689 48th and 16th Bn.

Born at Petersburg Sth Aust. CoE. Enlisted June 21 1915 age 26, labourer. His father, likely Arthur, not named, was at Yorkrakine via Tammin and his Nok was his wife, Sara Ellen Nock of Wellington St, Cottesloe Beach.  Embarked at Fremantle 2 September 1915 per A68 Anchises. Served in France in 1916 and reported missing but he was confused with Bertram Nock. RTA in November 1919 and discharged 19 March 1920. In England on 23 October 1919, Frank Nock, age 26 and presenting himself as a widower, married Augusta Verstrick 21, spinster, both then residing at 147 Mellish St, (no district or town seen). His father was given as Arthur William Nock a farmer and hers was Augustine Verstrick, labourer in the District Poplar. Note: it was common for soldiers recovering from wounds or illness to be billeted with English families. No indication on file that his first wife was dead. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. Brother of Bertram Thomas Nock.
