Born at Davenport, Tasmania, Methodist. Enlisted 21 February 1916 age 22, clerk. Nok father, Thomas Ockerby, Forrest St, Cottesloe. Embarked at Fremantle 10October 1916 per A23 Suffolk. Wounded in France 4 May 1917 and his right arm was amputated. RTA and discharged on 15 February 1918. Service medals: BWM and VM. Note: there are two Ockerby names on the Cottesloe School Honour Board, H. and F.; perhaps the F should be A. Ockerby is an uncommon family name with only three recorded in the WW1 AIF records; the two above and Harold Bertram Ockerby 7338, Methodist from Kellerberrin where his father, Alfred Ockerby was residing.
