Born on 6 December 1897 at Picton Junction WA. Methodist. Brother of Edwin Okely. Enlisted 3 February 1916 age 18, civil servant. Nok his father, the Station Master at Narrogin. Embarked at Fremantle per A9 Shropshire on 31 March 1916. Wounded in action in France, shell shock, 20-23 August 1916. Taken a prisoner of war by the Germans on 5 April 1917 and held at the Stalag E11 Limburg. Repatriated to England 4 December 1918 and RTA March 1919. Service medals: BWM and VM.
