Radford, Reginald Roy

** MM 1877 Lieut 8th Battery Field Artillery.

Born at Leicester England, Wesleyan. Enlisted 17 August 1914 age 20, locomotive fireman. Nok mother, Kate Elizabeth Radford, Margaret St, Midland Junction. In 1919 c/o Mrs H. Davenport (sister) Fairlight St, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked at Fremantle 31 October 1914 perA7 Medic. He was at Gallipoli in 1915 and in France 1916-1918. Gas wounded in action France on 31 May 1918. Awarded Military Medal on 22 June 1917. Promoted to Corporal, and Sergeant in June 1918 and Lieutenant in August 1918 but never commissioned into a unit.  RTA in December 1918 and discharged 6 March 1918.  The citation for the Military Medal reads: ‘His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to award the Military Medal for bravery in the field.’ refer to Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No 219, 4th supplement, No. 30234 to the London Gazette 14 August 1917. Service medals and award: Military Medal, 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
