Richardson, Arthur Edward

Born Lancashire, England, CoE.  Enlisted 28 March 1916 age 37, engine foreman. Nok wife, Lydia Hornby Richardson, 576 Bolton Rd, Pendlebury, Manchester, England. Arthur’s address at enlistment was 230 Rokeby Road, Subiaco, WA. Embarked at Fremantle 18 September 1916 per Clan McGillivray. Wounded in action in France 5 May 1917 and at own request discharged in England in 15 July 1918 and took up employment as an Australian munitions worker in England. During the Great War of 1914-1918 hundreds of Australians, ineligible for military service responded to the call for workers at the British munitions factories. Three other munitions workers  recorded on Cottesloe District Honour Rolls are G. Martin,  Frederick Dyball and E.Wilson. Service medals: BWM and VM. Cottesloe and district Honour Rolls.
