Born at Boronup WA, CoE.  Enlisted 7 July 1915, tailor’s presser. Nok mother, Christine Rachel Ritchie, Broome St, Cottesloe and Eau de Nil Tea Rooms, Broome St, Cottesloe. Embarked at Fremantle 13 October 1915 per A32 Themistocles. Served in the Middle East in 1915. Wounded in action in France on 12-15 August 1916. Wounded again on 5 February 1917. On 31 March 1917 he was missing in action in France and later recorded as captured by the Germans at Reincourt. Interned at Dulmen POW camp and repatriated to England on 9 December 1918. RTA in January 1919. Service medals: 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM.
