Rockliff, Harold John

** 91 Pte 11th Bn. later 27011 Gunner 25th Howitzer Brigade.

Born at Summer Hills, Sydney, NSW, CoE.  Enlisted 17 August 1914 age 20, mint employee. Nok mother, Mrs Elizabeth Mary Tullock, c/o Manly Beach Bungalow, corner of Ocean Road and Sydney St, Cottesloe Beach. Related to Captain William Hudson Rockliff and Sgt. Robert Edward Rockliff 2015. Embarked at Fremantle 2 November 1914 per A11 Ascanius.  Wounded in action at Gallipoli 25 April 1915, sent to hospital at Malta.  Returned to the Suez 21 January 1916 per A73 Commonwealth for duty as escort and then to Australia.  Upon recovery left Melbourne on 7 September 1916 per A15 Port Sydney for a return to duty in Europe. On 12 December 1917 shrapnel wound to the head while in France. RTA and discharged 30 October 1918.  Service medals: Star, BWM and VM.
