Born Coolgardie, WA, Methodist. Enlisted 6 March 1917 age 18. Junior draftsman. Nok father, Edward Joseph Salter Ophir, Princes St, Cottesloe Beach. Embarked at Melbourne 11 May 1917. Served in France. On 16 March 1918 he rejoined his unit after a short leave in Paris and hospitalised with influenza. Killed in action 23 August 1918. Buried at a Military Cemetery, 7.5 miles S.S.E. of Albert. Service medals: BWM and VM.
