Born Oldham, Lancashire England, Baptist. Enlisted 17 August 1914 age 35, railway employee. Nok wife, Ada Sharples 18 Carlton St, Leederville WA. Embarked at Fremantle 2 November 1914 per A7 Medic. Wounded at Gallipoli 12 August 1915. Hospitalised in England January 1916. RTA per A16 Star of Victoria 19 January 1916. Patient at No. 8 General Hospital Fremantle. Declared permanently unfit for military service. Discharged on a pension reduced in April 1918 to 34 shillings per fortnight and Ada’s pension was reduced to 17 shillings per fortnight.
