He served in the Middle East and then in France where he was missing in action during the battle of Mouquet Farm on 15 August 1916 and his death was later confirmed. A letter dated August 1921 from a Major at base records, informed Albert’s father that all efforts to establish his son’s resting place had failed and requested on loan, any letters that may assist with the search.
