Welch, Alexander

* Cpl 7715. Tunnelling Coy.

Born at Kirkcaldy Scotland, Presbyterian.  Enlisted 6 March 1917 at Blackboy Hill, age 38, shipbuilder. Nok sister, Mary Blair Welch, Napier St, Cottesloe and then Watsonia WA. His brother George was at Wongan Hills. Embarked at Sydney 8 August 1917 per A68 Anchises.   Arrived at Southampton 14 November 1917 and transferred to the tunnelling company in France.  In June 1918 he was hospitalised with bronchitis and died of pneumonia 24 June 1918.  Buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France, Plot 1 Row B Grave 30. Service medals: BWM and VM.
