Born at Brisbane, Qld. CoE.   Enlisted 3 March 1915 age 23, labourer.  Nok mother, Mrs Bessie Withers of Hampton Rd, Fremantle.  Embarked at Fremantle 29 June 1915 per A11 Ascanius.  Does not appear to have seen active service before being RTA in August 1915 per A18 Wiltshire. Service medals may be 1914-1915 Star, BWM and VM. In 1916 he suffered a blow to head and was unconscious two days and suffered temporary partial paralysis. Spent six months at No 8 Army General Hospital Fremantle followed by his discharge.  Pension rejection slip (undated) gives his address as c/- Mrs W.  Wells, Keane St, Cottesloe.
